Fees and risks

In short: Game fees flow back into the game. Here's every fee, where it goes, what the team earns, and what to know before you put ETH in.

note
Everything in Yield Fields is subject to change, including these numbers and mechanics. We'll give players ample notice before any change.

Good to know before you play

Yield Fields is an onchain game, so a few things are worth knowing up front.

Smart contracts. Like any onchain game, the contracts could have bugs. An external audit is planned.
Pauses. If the game is paused for maintenance or safety, unstaking waits until it's back.
Updates. The team can tune settings and upgrade the game contracts, including deed staking, to keep the game healthy. Updates apply to staked deeds too.
Values move. Founding Deeds, Fertilizer, $YIELD and rewards move with the market, and rates can change up or down. Nothing here is a guaranteed return.
Trading costs. Sells cost more during heavy selling, and big trades move the price.
Liquidity. The team manages the trading pool and can add, remove or rebalance it.
The Root Cellar grows with fees. It has no set amount.
Burning a deed is permanent.
Partners. The game runs on Robinhood Chain, Uniswap, drand and other third-party infrastructure.
Regulation. Rules for digital assets and online games vary by country and can change.

Who controls settings

Settings are changed by the owner, a team multisig
Changes take effect when they're made. They aren't scheduled or timelocked
The $YIELD tax caps are hard-coded
The current staking contract has no way for the team to move a staked deed. Upgrades are covered under Updates above

Nothing in these docs is financial advice.

Next, FAQ.
